Headteacher's Welcome

It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Harpfield Primary Academy. My predecessor, Mrs Robertson, was a highly regarded Headteacher who created a lively and vibrant learning community.  As Interim Headteacher I aim to build upon her successes and ensure that the children of Hartshill receive the best education possible.

I believe we have amazing and talented children who recognise the value of a school where expectations are high and effort and achievement are valued attributes.  Staff, parents and governors  all work extremely hard together to ensure that our children achieve ambitious outcomes. I hope that this website will give you a flavour of the exciting learning opportunities that take place at our school during the school day and beyond.

We actively promote UNICEF’s ‘Rights of the Child’ at Harpfield and children learn about rights and responsibilities. This philosophy is embedded in all aspects of the school. In 2012 we achieved Level 1 RRSA award and are now working towards our Level 2. The approach has been very powerful and children refer to their rights and responsibilities and understand that they go hand in hand with each other. All of which contributes to the harmonious atmosphere across the school.

Harpfield Primary Academy believes that every child can achieve ambitious outcomes. We involve the children in designing and planning their curriculum, setting themselves challenging targets and discussing ways in which they want to learn.

There is an extensive range of enrichment activities on offer at our school beyond the school day across the Key Stages. All activities are validated by the Children’s University and credits are gained for attendance throughout each term.  Children work towards gaining awards and certificates. Graduations take place twice a year both in school and at Staffordshire University.

Over the past 5 years the school has been on an interesting journey.  Our standing in the local community and within Stoke on Trent is very high.  Our aim is to ensure Harpfield Primary Academy is recognised for providing an outstanding education for its young people nationally as well as locally.
